Many of us don’t know what the difference between gamblers and risk-takers is. When can we say that we are lucky? There are my instances that we got to have a choice. Are we gamblers? Or are we just taking the risk? When we buy stocks? When we have to change jobs? When we decide to get married? When we bet in casinos or online casino? Are we ready to face the challenges of what will happen next?

We need to be careful in every decision. There should be a need to be apparent and paying attention in our actions. Every option, including the choice to do nothing, involves some sort of risk. A gamble has a towering chance of loss. A calculated risk has much higher chance of an optimistic result. Knowing the divergence is essential to our success.

A gambler looks for excitement and jeopardy. Sometimes he will risk further than he can afford to lose. He acts on hasty decisions and becomes naive of unconscious motivations. That person lacks discipline and invests on wishful fantasy rather than recognizes reality. When that person is losing, he will obtain more and bigger risks just to catch up. And of course, he looks for the one big win that will result I in ecstasy.

Calculated Risk Taker always takes responsibility for results. He acknowledges personal fantasies and resolves them or sometimes disregards them. He often knows personal abilities and limitations. That person concentrates on a realistic long-term strategy. He always stays alert to present trends and also resists risks that do not fit within defined risk limitations. And above all else, he analyzes situation, observes own reactions and makes.

Which one are you? Do you imagine yourself to be called as gamblers? Or people will say, he’s just a risk taker. We should always be liable for the possibilities. There are only two faces of chances in Casinos also in online casinos: Winning or Losing.

I am watching the fascinating structure from my balcony and still wondering what’s going on inside it. Many questions come across my mind. Yes, I have seen movies with scenes inside a Casino. I’ve also heard a lot of things from my friends. It made them feel good and enjoy life. But still, I can’t argue with them because I have never been in Casinos before. And so, I read articles and I found out that there are really people addicted in gambling. Some people can’t resist the excitement and fortune they can get. A few people are participating in illegal activities to obtain money. Several people missed their work just to have leisure.

Our school had just conducted choral caroling contest for a cost. It's an inter department choral competition. The competition was held last December 18, 2008 6:00pm at the Auditorium UIC, bankerohan. Anyway, there are 9 participants. Music department is excluded in the competition.

Anyway, as a participant, we won the competition. We are the Champion, then the 1st runner up is the BS Accountancy and the 2nd runner up is the BS in Pharmacy.
Yes! I had been awarded as "best conductor" and I'm so happy because for the first time in my life as a choir member and trainor, this is my first time to win. Although this is only an amateur contest, I am so glad to win in this competition.

I would surely never forget about this event in my life.
Thanks for reading.... ^_^. I'm very glad. I consider it as one of the best gift for me this Christmas.

Hello everyone! its been a long time since I last post my personal topics here. Well anyway, I've been busy in finishing my project in SAD subject, its for our final thesis. Anyway our thesis is creating a Collaboration System suitable for Outsourcing companies. It's purpose is to collaborate the developer, customer and the project manager for the development of their project. With this system, the customer can trace the progress of his project. Every data with concern of the project to be developed is discussed in our system, so all the data are centralized.

Currently we are in our two weeks of practice as trainee and we already got more or less 10 songs. Its a good experience actually. I've met another group of people and tried to join them. Well, their not really hard to be with.
Now, it's harder to manage my time. It's more difficult to balance everything that is attached within me: my studies, church, the choir that I organize, and the other which I considered expert choir.
It's harder, but its more of fun. haha...
Anyway, I'll post some other details, maybe on my other blogs, or perhaps here.

What is the difference then? The difference is the attitude of the people, framed along the years by the education & the culture & flawed tradition.

On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich & developed countries, we find that the great majority follow the following principles in their lives:

1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
6. Work loving.
7. Strive for savings & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.
10. and of course...Discipline

In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.

The Philippines is not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us. In fact, we are supposedly rich in natural resources.

We are poor because we lack the correct attitude. We lack the will to comply with and teach these functional principles of rich & developed societies.

If you do not forward this message nothing will happen to you. Your pet will not die, you will not be fired, you will not have bad luck for seven years, and also, you will not get sick or go hungry.

But those may happen because of your lack of discipline & laziness

your love for intrigue and politics, your indifference to saving for the future, your stubborn attitude.

High Prices for Rice hits poor Philippines

What happens in our country Philippines today? How come we who lives in agriculture lacks the source of rice? We export quality rice until now but our government import low quality rice from other country to feed the poor Filipinos. Is the resources in our country not indented for us? for our Filipino children? I have here copied an article from BBC News about Rice in the Philippines. I consider it a tragedy.

Rice prices hit Philippines poor

Rice for breakfast, rice for lunch and rice for dinner.

Like many poor Filipinos, Teresita Reyes relies on rice to feed her family and she's finding it increasingly expensive to live.

She and her family live on a few dollars a day in Malate, one of the poorest districts in the capital, Manila.

"Because of the rice shortage, we should tighten our budget. And we do not waste rice. When we cook, we just cook what's needed," she says.

Rising tensions

With rice prices hitting record highs, tensions are rising across the Philippines.

As part of its efforts to cut wastage and consumption, the government has urged restaurants to offer their customers the option of having just half the rice they normally get.

More demonstrations against the government could take place

The government was forced this week to draft in troops to deliver rice to poor neighbourhoods to avoid a backlash.

Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap is not ready to declare a crisis.

"To declare a crisis means we're facing shortages and that we have food lines, we are facing food rationing, which all do not exist right now. And we don't foresee this existing," he told the BBC.

Food protests

But many Filipinos disagree.

Members of the influential May First Labour Movement have been holding small-scale demonstrations in various parts of the country against what they call the government's inaction to do more to curb rising food prices.

"I think the government officials are in a state of denial.

"If the best that people like Secretary Yap come up with are measures like saying Filipinos should eat half of what they used to consume in terms of rice, I think this is a very stupid pronouncement," says Elmer C Labog, who chairs the movement.

Once self-sufficient in rice, the country is now the world's biggest importer of the crop, which is also a major staple food for half the world's population.

But with rice exporting countries from Egypt to Vietnam tightening their supplies to keep prices under control at home, the Philippines is one of the hardest hit.

Many activists were not surprised.

They had long predicted the problems it is currently facing.

Agriculture under pressure

Over the past 20 years or so, the country lost nearly half of its irrigated land to rapid urban development.

The rising cost of rice is a problem around the world

Jaime Tadeo from the National Rice Farmers' Council showed me a few areas just north of Manila where shopping malls, condominiums, and golf courses have taken over precious farm land.

"There is still time. The Philippines has the vast potential to attain rice self-sufficiency if all land suitable is used to plant rice under the best technological and farm management conditions.

"We can even export rice if we want. So the food security of the Filipino people should not depend on imports," he said.

Worsening

There are fears that the rice shortage could worsen in the coming months.

The opposition has threatened President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo with more large scale protests.

The government has warned rice hoarders that they would be given life imprisonment if found guilty - underlining the highly sensitive nature of the issue for the authorities.

But a lack of investment in the agricultural sector is raising serious questions about how the Philippines will be able to cope with its falling domestic production in the near future.

I have just copied this one from one of the forum of bukaspalad online. It talks about Voice enhancement...

may i suggest to include on the workshop the VOCAL PROJECTION-this is a step by step management from the inhalation process to the budegetting of the air and focusing the exact air pressure needed during singing application.

Remember to get the voice not from the throat but from the tummy vocal placement. Breath support must always be ahead of your voice..

Inititiate the exercise by doing first the lessons on deep beathing technique and then connect the application of the air with the sound produce a beautiful tone.

to add more, include on syllabus THE MOUTHFUL OF VOWELS- In singing, vowels and consonants play an important role.For you to sing good you must focus and give more importance in identifying the vowels rather than the consonants. Vowels are the emotional expression of the song. Consonants are the intellectual expression of the song.

There are five PURE VOWEL SOUNDS, namely:

"a", "e", "i", "o", "u"

1. In singing the song you have to feel the vowels formed in your mouth.

VOWEL "a"- is formed with the mouth by dropping the jaw down and towards the throat, it has to have a 2-3 finger distance between the upper and lower teeth.

VOWEL "e"- is formed with a smiling face, the lips are widening side by side and the jaw should also be dropping down with 2 finger distance between the teeth.

VOWEL "i" - is formed with a smiling face also but with an inch distance between the teeth.

VOWEL "o" - is formed with the shaping "o" with your lips and the distance between the two teeth should at least be 2-3 finger distance.

VOWEL "u" - is formed by the puckering of your lips or feels like you are blowing a candle.

2. In singing the phrases you have to connect the vowels and go through the consonants as fast as you can. And the vowel when produced will normally open the pathway of sound.

3. make sure that before you sing the lyrics of a phrase or syllable, the mouth opening should be prepared first.

As I search the web for vocalization and vocal work out I have found this...

Exercises that Create a Healthy Vocal Sound:

the numbers indecate the note, Example: 1,3,5,3,1 is equal to do mi sol mi do....

(1) 1, 3, 5, 3, 1.

    a, o, u, o, a.

(This simple exercise will begin to allow the singer to assimilate the idea of 'narrowing' the vowels as they go up instead of spreading. This is good for volunteer choirs because it involves less range.)

(2) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

    a....le....lu..........ia.

(Creates similar results as the number 1. Be sure the singers keep the jaw somewhat down and 'flip' the l's. The tongue should function separate from the jaw.)

(3) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

    a.....o...........u..............o........a......

(4) 5......5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

(This exercise shapes the pharynx in a healthy acoustical space for all vowels. Use the idea the all the vowels keep some of the 'u' feel in the throat.)

(Have the singer feel as though the larynx drops slightly as they sing the 'u' vowel. This will begin to help them discover a 'lower larynx' position. Vennard calls this the laryngeal pivot or 'rocking' of the larynx. Use this exercise only in the middle range.)

(7) 1..3..5..oct..3rd above...oct..5..3..1

    a..e..i..o....u...........o....a..e..i

(This exercise is designed to allow a lower larynx while going into the upper range. The 'o' and 'u' vowels are lower larynxed vowels and performing this exercise will help the singers not to create a 'spread and shrill sound in the higher register. The jaw should be somewhat stable encouraging the singer to pronounce with the tongue separate from the jaw.)

(8) 5....5..4..3..2..1

    ng...a............

(Exercise allows for the 'ng' ring to thread into the form of the vowel. Use the vowel modification of 'aw' for the 'a' if it is too spread.)

Last sunday, we were informed by our prefect that there will be no Inter Parochial Choral Compitition for this year. Many has feel down because of our so long practises... Wow... I have search one of my favorite video on youtube.... The La Rose of The Philippine Madrigal Singers.. a world renowned philippine choir, the best!!!!! .. They sound so great,, they sound so magical... Hope my choir can sing this good... specialy on sunday masses... hehehe.... Proud to be Pinoy!!! hehehe...
